Making Primary Health Care Facilities 24/7
The program is dedicated to ensuring that primary
healthcare facilities are available and accessible to the community 24/7.
Strengthening Patient Referral System
The program places a strong emphasis on
strengthening the patient referral system by adding a fleet of more than 150
ambulances to the existing ambulatory system of the Health Department.
Enhancing Connectivity Between Health Care Provider & The Public
The program has planned to enhance connectivity
between healthcare providers and the public through the implementation of
telehealth solutions
Using Microfinancing to Improve Nutritional Status of Women
Through microfinancing, the program will provide
women with the capital needed to start income-generating activities. This
includes small-scale agriculture, livestock rearing, or home-based businesses.

Sindh Human Capital Investment – 1000 Days: SIHWEP Inaugurates Interest-Free Microfinance and Distributes Cheques to Women Entrepreneurs
The Sindh Integrated Health & Women Empowerment Project (SIHWEP), Government of Sindh, held the Inauguration and Cheque Distribution Ceremony of the Interest-Free Microfinance Activity on 12 February 2026 at NJV Government High School, Karachi, in collaboration with Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance.
Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Honorable Minister for Health & Population Welfare Department, attended as Chief Guest. Senior officials including Mr. Tariq Hussain Sangi, Secretary Health, and Mr. Shafqat Ali Soomro, Program Director SIHWEP, were also present.
In the first phase, 203 women entrepreneurs received interest-free loan cheques (Qarz-e-Hasna) of up to PKR 200,000 each to expand their businesses. The ceremony, attended by approximately 500 participants, marked the operational launch of the Women Economic Empowerment component under SIHWEP.
Sindh Human Capital Investment Signs Service Agreement for SIHWEP with Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance to Launch Interest-Free Loans for Women
Under this agreement, 6,400 women across 15 districts of Sindh will receive interest-free loans (Qard-e-Hasna) up to PKR 200,000. The initiative supports business expansion, startup opportunities for trained women, and sustainable income generation through Shariah-compliant microfinance.
IsDB Supervision Mission Visits Sindh Integrated Health & Women Empowerment Project
An Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Supervision Mission visited Karachi from December 16–18, 2025, to review the Sindh Integrated Health & Women Empowerment Project. The mission engaged with the PMU to assess progress, discuss implementation matters, and support effective project execution.
